How the Communio application collects, uses, stores and protects information.

1. Introduction

Communio is a digital platform developed by NilaCode Technologies for religious congregations to manage members, communities, ministries and governance records. This policy explains what information the application collects, how it is used and the choices available to users and organizations.

2. Information We Collect

Communio collects only the information required to operate the platform for the organization that deploys it:

  • Account information such as name, email address and assigned role
  • Member records entered by the organization, including profile details, community and ministry assignments
  • Governance and appointment history maintained by authorized administrators
  • Documents and images uploaded by authorized users
  • Basic technical data such as device type and app version, used for reliability and support

3. How Information Is Used

Information within Communio is used strictly to deliver the platform's functionality:

  • Authenticating users and applying role-based access
  • Displaying directories, community, ministry and governance information
  • Maintaining institutional records and historical data for the organization
  • Providing dashboards, search and notifications within the application
  • Diagnosing technical issues and improving reliability

4. Data Ownership

All organizational and member data entered into Communio remains the property of the organization that deploys the platform. NilaCode Technologies acts as a technology provider and processes data only on behalf of that organization.

5. Data Storage and Security

Data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure with encryption in transit. Access is controlled through authenticated accounts and role-based permissions, so users only see the information relevant to their responsibilities. Administrative access is limited to authorized personnel.

6. Data Sharing

Communio does not sell personal data and does not use it for advertising. Data is not shared with third parties except where required to operate the service (for example, cloud hosting and authentication providers) or where required by law.

7. Google Sign-In

Where an organization enables Google Sign-In, Communio receives only the basic profile information required to authenticate the user, such as name and email address. This information is used solely to create and verify the user account.

8. Data Retention and Deletion

Records are retained for as long as the organization requires them for its institutional purposes. Users may request correction or deletion of their personal information through their organization's administrator, or by contacting us directly at info@nilacode.com. Account deletion requests are actioned in coordination with the organization that owns the data.

9. Children's Privacy

Communio is intended for use by authorized adult members and administrators of an organization. It is not directed at children.

10. Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated as the application evolves. Material changes will be communicated to the organizations using Communio, and the revised policy will be published on this page.
